DAO Anh Khanh
1998

Gift by the Artist for the Griffis Art Center Collection
"Music of the Universe", Oil on Canvas, 36.5" x 28.5", 1998

"I am searching and looking for the limitlessness of the universe, so in a way I feel in my heart that I am a long traveler in that universe. That is where I find that humanity is larger than myself."

Dao Anh Khanh graduated from Industrial Art College in Hanoi and is a member of the Vietnam Association of Plastic Arts Workers. He has many paintings in private collections in Vietnam and abroad. He has exhibited in Paris, London, Beijing, Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur, New York, Boston, Palm Springs, and currently at the Meridian International in Washington D.C. The exhibition will travel across the USA for two years. He and his wife, Bui Mai Hien, call themselves "The Painter Family." His work has also been published in several magazines including Asian Art Pacific Magazine, Vietnam Review, Vietnam Pictorial and Asian Art Magazine.

With visual arts, Khanh aspires to reach the musical world with each of his strokes. Both classical and modern masterpieces, Eastern and Western, touch him deeply in his intellect. Launching into a creative mode by the sounds of music, he would allow time and space to freeze, as if guided by an invisible hand into a trance, from where he creates a world filled with pureness, mystery and magic.
