If I had to describe my work, it would be as a colorist, creating interpretive paintings with landscape orientation. I'm presently inspired by the New England countryside, but from the western region of America. I work with both acrylics on rice paper, letting the hues shine through from the reverse side and then applying textures to the face of the painting, and watercolors, which allow me more freedom with brush strokes to express feelings and impressions. The incorporation of pencil, ink, and collage in my work creates a complexity of abstract interpretations in the depicting of a scene or portraying a particular environment. The feeling is further enhanced by my using a full pallette of colors. My studies were in art and design at Bennett College, The New York School of Interior Design, the University of Colorado, and Regis College in Denver, where I received the degree of Bachelor of Arts, Suma cum Laude. I have exhibited at the Reiss Gallery in Denver, the Handworks in Boulder, Wild Basin Gallery in Allenspark, and Master Framers in Vail. In addition to juried shows and one person shows in Colorado, one of my paintings was recently accepted in the Allied Artist Show in New York City. I came to the Art Center from Boulder, Colorado, where I am affiliated with the Art Association, Art Center, Artists' Register, Gilpin Art Association, the National Watercolor Society, the Southeastern Watercolor Society, and Allied Artists of America. I have four children. |
